Bolton defender Joe Bunney taken to hospital after being involved in road traffic accident

Bolton defender Joe Bunney has been taken to hospital after being involved in a road traffic accident, the League One club have confirmed.

Bunney joined the club on transfer deadline day, but is yet to make his competitive debut for Wanderers.

A statement revealed he was admitted to a hospital in Preston where he will remain for the next 48 hours having sustained broken ribs and a broken collarbone during the incident.

Bolton Wanderers can confirm that Joe Bunney has been involved in a road traffic accident,” the statement read.

“The defender received medical attention for broken ribs and a broken collarbone and is being supported by the club’s medical staff.

“He will remain in hospital for the next 48 hours as a precautionary measure.

“Everybody at Bolton Wanderers wishes Joe a quick recovery.”

Bunney’s move to Bolton reunited him with Wanderers manager Keith Hill, who had been his coach at Rochdale.
